1. Doug Martin (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The rookie running back has been solid this season, but Thursday night was a dominating performance against the Minnesota Vikings. Martin rushed for over 135 yards including one rushing TD and one receiving TD.

2. Matthew Stafford (QB) Detroit Lions

Stafford had a monster game when the Lions needed it the most. Stafford’s 352 yards and three passing TD’s gave fantasy owners all they needed. Add in the one rushing TD and fantasy owners were elated with Stafford’s week eight performance.

3. Miami Dolphins Defense/Special Teams

We figured the Dolphins would be a good fantasy option, but this performance went above and beyond. The Dolphins special teams recovered an onside kick, blocked a field goal, and blocked a punt which resulted in a TD. On defense, the Dolphins held the Jets to nine points while sacking Mark Sanchez four times and picking him off once.

4. Tom Brady (QB) and Rob Gronkowski (TE) New England Patriots

Tom Brady hasn’t had a usual Brady year, but week eight was more like it. Brady threw for over 300 yards and four TD’s. Two of those TD’s went to Gronkowski. Brady and Gronkowski are safe bets to have a couple more weeks like this before the end of the season.

5. Matt Ryan (QB) Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan has elevated himself to one of the top fantasy quarterback’s in football. Ryan  went 22 for 29 for 262 yards and three TD’s. Performances like this are becoming the norm for Ryan.

1. Robert Griffin III (QB) Washington Redskins

Although Griffin’s overall numbers weren’t terrible, fantasy owners now expect more from the rookie sensation. RG3 threw for just 177 yards and one touchdown. He also was unable to get going on the ground with just eight yards rushing on six carriers.

2. Philip Rivers (QB) San Diego Chargers

Rivers has been a major fantasy disappointment this season. Week eight was no different. Against a terrible Cleveland Browns team, Rivers managed to throw for just 154 yards and was unable to find the end zone.

3. Eli Manning (QB) New York Giants

Eli has been a fantasy monster this season, but not week eight. The Giants somehow managed to score 29 points without a TD pass from Eli Manning. You won’t find Eli on the dud list very many times this season, but his week eight was dud worthy.

4. DeSean Jackson (WR) Philadelphia Eagles

At this point, Jackson’s performance shouldn’t be a surprise. However, Jackson and the Eagles offense continues to be a major letdown. Jackson caught five passes for 59 yards, but once again was unable to get in the end zone.

5. Calvin Johnson (WR) Detroit Lions

How is it Lions QB Matthew Stafford can have such a huge fantasy day and the Lions top WR comes up on the dud list? Week eight makes it back to back weeks with just three catches for Johnson. With only one touchdown on the season 2012 is quickly becoming a fantasy dud season for Johnson.
