The Atlanta Falcons breezed by the New Orleans Saints 23-13 Thursday night. For the first time in 55 games, Drew Brees went without throwing a touchdown pass. In fact, Brees was downright awful Thursday night.

Brees threw for over 300 yards, but also threw five interceptions! This performance was a major letdown for fantasy owners.  The only Saints player to find the end zone was running back Mark Ingram. The Saints used a running back by committee approach, which makes it very difficult for fantasy owners to decide who to start.

The Falcons defense was a pleasant surprise for anyone who dared to start them against Brees and the Saints offense. They had five interceptions and only allowed 13 points, which was good for 11 fantasy points in standard leagues.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had a relatively unimpressive game with just one touchdown pass and 165 yards passing. Fantasy owners were surely expecting much more against a weak Saints defense.

Falcons running back Michael Turner had a surprisingly strong effort with over 80 yards rushing and one touchdown. Kicker Matt Bryant also got his share of fantasy points with three field goals and two extra points.

At 11-1 and a few games up on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s time for fantasy owners to monitor the playoff chase closely. The Falcons may start resting some of their top players soon. Check the Blitz every afternoon for the latest fantasy news!
