The SportsMan Needs An Eye Exam
Earlier today I announced my top 12 running backs for the upcoming Fantasy season. In my error I missed a name that should have been up there. My apologies to Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. Call it blind hatred (being that I’m a NY Giants fan and hat everything Philadelphia) or just blind stupidity but in my calculations I should have had McCoy at the number 9 spot.
Perhaps it was subliminal that I bypassed McCoy on the list. Last season I drafted him in the first round of a league and got burned. I was “rewarded” with only 750 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns during the regular fantasy season. McCoy became one of the most traded players last season. LeSean also missed four games due to a concussion. He even earned my dreaded “Fantasy Bust” award for last year.
However, this season should be a rebound year for the man known as “Shady”. He is still the primary back in the Eagles offense. New coach Chip Kelly has a reputation as an offensive genius coming from Oregon and many experts expect Philly to light up some scoreboards. McCoy should benefit greatly from Kelly’s quick paced offense.
It may be a stretch to expect 20 TDs and 1,309 rushing yards from McCoy as he put up just two seasons ago. 9-11 TDs are more reasonable and 1,100-1,200 yards on the ground and more likely what he’ll put up. LeSean will be off the board late in the first or early in the second round. If he’s still on the board in the mid-second round and you have a pick grab him for a nice buy-low price.
