Surgex Sports Studs and Duds: Week 16
1. Dez Bryant (WR) Dallas Cowboys
Bryant seems to have taken the next step to becoming a top level fantasy wide receiver. Bryant’s week 16 performance was masterful. Bryant caught nine passes for over 200 yards and two touchdowns.
2. Tony Romo (QB) Dallas Cowboys
Romo has upped his game the last few weeks. He continues to rack up big time yards and throw touchdowns, but he has now cut down on the number of interceptions and turnovers. Romo threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns week 16, while not throwing an interception.
3. Aaron Rodgers (QB) Green Bay Packers
Rodgers hit a bit of a lull weeks 11 to 14, but the last couple weeks he has looked more like himself. Rodgers threw three touchdown passes and even added in a rushing touchdown week 16.
4. Matt Ryan (QB) Atlanta Falcons
Unfortunately for our fantasy team, our opponent had Ryan at quarterback. Ryan threw four touchdown passes and had 279 yards passing in another impressive fantasy performance.
5. Reggie Bush (RB) Miami Dolphins
Bush has had an up and down fantasy season. We almost considered sitting Bush week 16, with the championship on the line. It turns out Bush was a big reason why our fantasy team still has a chance. Bush only rushed for 65 yards, but had one rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns.
With just one week left in the season, Falcons QB Matt Ryan pulled into sole possession of first place with 5 #STUD performances on the season. RG3 and Adrian Peterson both have 4 and still have a shot at tying for the lead.
1. Matt Schaub (QB) Houston Texans
Schaub had a very unimpressive week 16 performance. Schaub failed to throw a touchdown pass and accumulated just 178 passing yards. Not what fantasy owners were expecting.
2. Frank Gore (RB) San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers fell behind early and Gore never even had a chance to get going. As bad as the 49ers 42-13 loss to the Seahawks was, Gore’s 28 yards rushing was almost as disappointing for 49ers fans.
3. Victor Cruz (WR) New York Giants
What is happening to the Giants offense? Going into the final week of the season you can’t trust any Giants offensive player, but they still have the ability to have a monster game. Cruz ended up with just 21 yards receiving on three catches.
4. Aaron Hernandez (TE) New England Patriots
With Rob Gronkowski looking like he will return for the final week of the regular season, week 16 was Hernandez’s last chance to accumulate big time fantasy points. Needless to say, Hernandez failed. Hernandez ended up with just one catch for 13 yards.
5. Tennessee Titans Defense/Special Teams
A number of teams had terrible weeks on the defensive side of the ball. The Titans were arguably the worst of the worst however, giving up 55 points to the Packers just one week after holding the Jets to 10 points.
Larry Fitzgerald and Chris Johnson stay tied atop the #DUDCounter standings with 5 #DUD performances each. With one week remaining will one of these players put up one last dud performance?
