Surgex Sports Fantasy Studs and Duds: Week Ten
1. Joe Flacco (QB) Baltimore Ravens
Let’s face it, these aren’t the Ravens of old. Joe Flacco can throw the ball down field and despite having one of the best running backs in football in the backfield, the Ravens aren’t afraid to air it out. Flacco torched the Oakland Raiders defense (which is becoming fairly common these days) for three touchdowns and 341 yards passing.
2. Matt Ryan (QB) Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan is becoming a stud staple here on the Blitz. The expectations have gotten extremely high for Ryan, but his week ten performance was still stud worthy. Despite the upset loss, Ryan threw for 411 yards and three touchdowns. It’s becoming like clockwork for fantasy owners. Ryan moves into the lead on our #STUDCounter.
3. Calvin Johnson (WR) Detroit Lions
And to think we started to doubt Johnson’s fantasy value. Johnson had over 200 yards receiving and added a touchdown. Johnson has now had back to back impressive fantasy performances. Fantasy owners are breathing a sigh of relief as it seems like “Megatron” is back.
4. Andy Dalton (QB) Cinncinati Bengals
The Bengals surprised the New York Giants week ten with an impressive 31-13 victory. Even more impressive was the play of Dalton. The Bengals quarterback threw four touchdown passes without throwing an interception. The Bengals face the Chiefs next week, so you may want to stick with the young quarterback.
5. Jimmy Graham (TE) New Orleans Saints
We gave Graham the final stud spot due to his two touchdown catches. If your tight end is giving you 26 fantasy points (in standard leagues) there is a good chance your team is coming away with a victory.
Matt Ryan (QB) Atlanta Falcons: 4
RG3 (QB) Washington Redskins: 3
Doug Martin (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2
1. Michael Vick (QB) Philadelphia Eagles
We’re not quite sure how Vick has managed to escape the dud list as often as he has, but not this week. Injuries are a part of the game, and unfortunately for Vick and fantasy owners a concussion knocked the quarterback out of the game early and it may jeopardize his starting status for the rest of the season. Vick ended up with just 70 yards passing, but did manage one touchdown pass in what has been a tough season for the veteran quarterback.
2. Andre Johnson (WR) Houston Texans
Come on Andre Johnson. I know it was raining and you were playing in Chicago, but you have to come up with a better performance than four catches and 35 yards. The Houston Texans remained undefeated because of their defense, but that doesn’t help fantasy owners who were left with close to nothing from Johnson and the Texans offense.
3. Eli Manning (QB) New York Giants
There were reports that Manning is suffering from a tired arm. If this is the case, a bye week will be useful for Manning and the Giants. Manning has struggled mightily the last few weeks and week ten was no different. Manning threw for 215 yards, but had no touchdowns and two interceptions. The bye week couldn’t be coming at a better time for Manning and the Giants.
4. Victor Cruz (WR) New York Giants
We really should just give a dud to the entire Giants offense, but in past weeks we singled out Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw, so this week we will give the dud to Victor Cruz. With just three catches for 26 yards and three straight sub par performances, fantasy owners may want to start panicking.
5. Ryan Tannehill (QB) Miami Dolphins
Just when everyone was starting to get on the Tannehill bandwagon he puts up a complete dud performance. We would be less critical if his three interceptions and zero touchdown performance were against a top team, but the Titans?
DeSean Jackson (WR) Philadelphia Eagles: 3
Andre Johnson (WR) Houston Texans: 2
Calvin Johnson (WR) Detroit Lions: 2
