Surgex Sports Fantasy Five: Week 16
Week 16 is upon us and if you’re reading this article and your fantasy team is still alive, it means that you are likely in the championship game. Congratulations and though your roster is likely to be comprised of “championship” level talent, you still may have room to add a sleeper to help win you your championship. Here’s 5.
1. Sam Bradford (QB) St. Louis Rams
If you’re looking for a one-week QB option, than you can do much worse than picking up Sam Bradford. Bradford is coming off a 377 yard, three touchdown performance against the Vikings in Week 15 and he’ll be facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their feeble pass defense.
2. Kirk Cousins (QB) Washington Redskins
The longer into the week the status of Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III remains up in the air, the more worthy Cousins becomes. Cousins filled in capably for RGIII last week, posting 21 fantasy points and against the Eagles this week expect more of the same if Cousins is called upon to start.
3. New England Patriots D/ST
This pick is more about the Patriots opponent, the Jaguars, and their quarterback, Chad Henne. Henne is liable to blow up, in a bad way, at any moment and its the Patriots who are to gain from these turnovers. The Jags are also prone to allowing sacks, which again means inflated numbers for a fantasy defense.
4. DeAngelo Williams (RB) Carolina Panthers
Williams has been a running machine in his past two games and his set to face off with the Oakland Raiders and their run defense which has allowed an average of 122 rushing yards per game. The mix of a hot back and a porous defense sounds like a sleeper to us.
5. Danny Amendola (WR) St. Louis Rams
This is an easy one: The Bucs have bad passing defense and Sam Bradford is in a good rhythm so naturally by proxy, his favorite target Amendola is set to have a big week.
