Surgex Sports Fantasy Five: Week 13
It’s crunch time in fantasy football leagues. The playoffs are either here or a week or two away. These five fantasy players could make the difference.
1. Mohamed Sanu (WR) Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals rookie wide receiver has quietly been making a fantasy impact over the last couple weeks. Sanu caught two touchdown passes last week and has a touchdown catch over the last three games. He is the Bengals number two wide receiver and with the Bengals offense starting to heat up, Sanu should be considered a serious flex option.
Update: Sanu suffered a stress fracture in his left foot on practice on Thursday. He will be having surgery on Monday and miss the rest of the season.
2. Josh Gordon (WR) Cleveland Browns
It’s hard to get excited about any player that has to do with the Cleveland Browns, but Gordon has potential week 13. The Browns face the Oakland Raiders, which means you should consider starting Gordon as the Raiders can’t stop anybody.
3. Martellus Bennett (TE) New York Giants
Now that the Giants offense is back in gear, Bennett has fantasy potential week 13 against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins defense has allowed seven touchdowns to tight ends this season, and Bennett had 79 yards receiving the last time the Giants played the Redskins.
4. New York Jets Defense/Special Teams
This is an especially gutsy sleeper pick considering the Jets on-field performance on Thanksgiving. However, the Jets have shown an ability to play well against equally terrible teams and they are facing the Arizona Cardinals week 13. Look for the Jets to have something of a bounce back week and fool people into believing they are better than they really are. The Cardinals offense is so bad that we would recommend starting any defense that faces them from here on out.
5. Knowshon Moreno (RB) Denver Broncos
Moreno was the surprise of week 12 when he got the start over Ronnie Hillman. Moreno impressed with 85 yards on 20 carries and over 100 total yards. Moreno is a lock to start again week 13, and is worth giving a look if you need to pick up a running back.
