Surgex Sports Fantasy Five: Week 12
Happy Thanksgiving! Now on to fantasy football. It’s coming down to the final week or two for a lot of fantasy leagues. The playoffs are on the horizon and these next couple weeks are huge. There are a number of solid fantasy sleepers who may still be on the waiver wire in your fantasy league. Give these guys a look.
1. Ronnie Hillman (RB) Denver Broncos
With Willis McGahee out six to eight weeks with a torn MCL, Hillman will see the majority of carries. He also possesses explosive speed, making him more than just a one week filler.
2. Jalen Parmele (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars
With Maurice Jones-Drew still out, Rashad Jennings has not gotten the job done as his replacement. It looks like Jalen Parmele is going to get the start against the Tennessee Titans. Parmele wouldn’t be our first choice, but the Titans are going be concentrating on making sure Chad Henne doesn’t have a repeat performance so Parmele could catch them off-guard.
3. Justin Blackmon (WR) Jacksonville Jaguars
We hold Justin Blackmon close to our heart. We drafted him in our fantasy league hoping he would live up to the expectations of being a top five draft pick. He didn’t, so we released him. Then he broke out last weekend for 236 yards and one touchdown. While it’s unlikely Blackmon will repeat that performance, he obviously possesses the talent to be a big time play-maker.
4. Bryce Brown (RB) Philadelphia Eagles
It doesn’t sound like LeSean McCoy will be able to play this weekend after suffering a concussion last weekend. Bryce Brown will get the start if McCoy can’t go. He certainly has a lot of appeal with his explosive running ability. The Eagles will be playing on Monday night against a Carolina Panthers defense that gives up 118 rushing yards a game. Brown presents an intriguing flex option.
5. St. Louis Rams Defense/Special teams
We picked up the St. Louis Rams defense this week because of their match up against the Arizona Cardinals. Seeing how the Cardinals quarterbacks have been dreadful and they ranks 31st in the league in total offense, the Rams defense would have to really screw up this weekend to not provide some fantasy value for your team. The Rams defense ranks 11th in the league and the Cardinals have allowed a season-high 44 sacks this season. If you’re looking for a defense week 12, give the Rams defense the start.
