NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round Recap
With another exciting round of the NFL playoffs in the books, here’s a quick rundown of this weekend’s action:
Ravens 38 – Broncos 35: A back and forth affair the entire way, this game featured perhaps the most dramatic play of the weekend. With the Ravens trailing by seven points and less than a minute to go, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco heaved a 70 yard pass that landed calmly into the hands of Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones for a game-tying score. Then, in overtime a Peyton Manning interception led to the Ravens game-winning field goal.
Patriots 41 – Texans 28: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick find themselves in familiar territory, yet again advancing to another AFC Championship game after dismantling the Houston Texans defense with an aggressive offensive attack. Even losing star tight end Rob Gronkowski in the first quarter to an arm injury wasn’t enough to derail the juggernaut Patriots offense.
49ers 45 – Packers 31: Colin Kaepernick welcome to the limelight. Up until this week there was still some doubting 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s decision to switch his starting quarterback midway through the season, but his decision seemed to have paid off. Kaepernick looked like a man amongst boys, totaling four touchdowns with a combination of rushes and passes.
Falcons 30 – Seahawks 28: In the other exciting game this weekend, the Atlanta Falcons first held a 20 point lead, only to give it all back and trail the game 28-27 with 30 seconds to play, just march right back up the field and kick a game winning field goal. The win marked the first time veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez won a playoff game.
