Dallas Cowboys Tight End Jason Witten Has Historic Night
Sunday night’s 29-24 loss to the New York Giants was a heartbreaking defeat for the Dallas Cowboys. After falling behind 23-0, it looked as if the Cowboys were in store for a crushing blowout. Instead, after staging a remarkable comeback, the Cowboys suffered an equally crushing loss in the final seconds. There was one positive for Dallas fans. Cowboys tight end Jason Witten made history Sunday night.
Witten had 18 catches for 167 yards. The 18 receptions was a record for a tight end. Witten ended up totaling 16 fantasy points in standard leagues. He was unable to find the end zone, or else it would have been an even bigger fantasy week for Witten.
Witten’s fantasy valued has dropped a bit this season due to injuries and a drop in receptions (until Sunday night). Witten has only one touchdown catch on the season, but Sunday showed Witten is still Romo’s most reliable offensive target.
Witten’s historic night was a bright moment in an otherwise dim evening for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. Fantasy owners can consider Witten a safe fantasy bet to continue to perform at high levels. Tony Romo continues to struggle at QB, but if the Cowboys keep falling behind in games, the Cowboys will have to throw the ball and Witten will be the recipient of a lot of targets.
