A Look Into the Rabbit Hole: Janoris Jenkins vs. Larry Fitzgerald
This will be the St. Louis Rams second and last game this season against the Arizona Cardinals. Janoris Jenkins will once again have to keep Larry Fitzgerald, one of the games best receivers, in check.
In their week five game, the Rams won 17-3 and Jenkins was able to keep Fitzgerald out of the end zone despite him catching eight passes for 92 yards. Coming into this weekends game, both teams find themselves falling out of the playoff race.
Jenkins and the Rams secondary are again going to have to limit the damage from Fitzgerald. He will get his catches, but the focus needs to be to keep Fitzgerald from breaking open a big play. Working in the Rams favor is the Cardinals quarterback situation.
At this point, it seems unlikely that Kevin Kolb will be able to return to the field in time for this weekend. Backup John Skelton has been terrible, even missing a wide open Fitzgerald in the end zone last week. The Cardinals quarterback situation could end up being the wild card in this weeks match up.
Fitzgerald is one of the best pass catchers in the NFL. He is going to get his share of receptions in this game, despite the lackluster play of the Cardinals quarterbacks. Jenkins and the Rams need to make sure Fitzgerald isn’t able to run after the catch and break open any big plays. Force Ryan Lindley (expected to start week 12) to make the throws.
